The Black epiSTEMologies team located at Georgia State University is under the direction of Dr. Nickolaus A. Ortiz. As PI, Dr. Ortiz is supported by Dr. Jessica Wilson (Postdoc), Future Dr. Angela-Faith Thomas (Graduate Research Assistant), Future Dr. Lateisha Andrews (Graduate Research Assistant), and Cameron Gilliam, Paris Iyamu, Shawn Irons, Dara Dawodu (Undergraduate Students). This site is collecting data from schools in the State of Georgia.

Dr. Nickolaus Alexander Ortiz
PI, Georgia State University
Nickolaus is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned his doctorate in May 2018 in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Mathematics Education. Dr. Ortiz is from {East} Atlanta, Georgia, and a 2022 recipient of the Ernest D. Morrell Emerging Scholar Award. Last but not least, he is a musician who loves everything from Gladys Knight to OutKast.
